Eva Mendes was born on March 5, 1974 in Miami, Florida, but was raised in Los Angeles by a single mother.
Mendes attended High School in Glendale, California and went on to attend California State University, Northridge. Mendes dropped out shortly after enrolling at the University to pursue her acting career.

Mendes began her career appearing in music videos, including an appearance in Will Smith’s video for his hit song “Miami.” She quickly moved to the big screen, taking a role in the critically-acclaimed Training Day. Mendes has also appeared in Hitch, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Stuck On You and most recently We Own The Night, where she starred alongside Joaquin Phoenix, Mark Wahlberg, and Robert Duvall.
